White Shepherd Rescue was formed by Kay Andrews, Jan Kelly, Clare van der Wolde, Michelle Brooks, Scott Nimmo in Victoria and Angela Sneddon in New South Wales, who are members of the Dogzonline Forums.
Jan and Kay through involvement on the forum, affectionately called DOL, discovered the White Shepherd thread. The pictures that the owners posted showed the style of Shepherds that they remembered from their youth. Kay also had had a neighbour who had had a White German Shepherd.
Angela Sneddon, a breeder from New South Wales, donated a pup from one of her litters to a young Melbourne girl with Oesteogenisis Imperfecta as a companion dog. In August Kay and Jan and another forum member Jo met Ange at the airport when she bought the pup down. The three of them fell in love.
In November 2007 Kay and Jan rescued a pupMalibu (Leisel) and Ange acquired her relatives to rehome. In December Ange came to Melbourne to collect her dog Ice who had been down for stud duties. This coincided with the monthly DOL get together at Kepala Canine Country Club. Michelle and Scott attended with their dogs. Also Cruz the companion dog and our rescue Leisel.
When Ange had Hope (Spice) funds were needed for her rehabilitation so White Shepherd Rescue was formally commenced in January 2008.
This original team has continued to manage White Shepherd Rescue until 2010 when Louise Menz and Rhiannon Bartolo joined. Kay left when she moved away.
However White Shepherd Rescue is indebted to Lynn Phillips and Rob Fimmel who we met at our first Sausage Sizzle at Dan Murphy's. Lynn has Happy Paws Training Treats. Lynn and Rob have assisted at Sausage Sizzles and also generously donated treats for fundraising.
